In 2022, two best friends from high school started Illegal Shirts. The starting point was simple: take the internet humor we loved and make something you could actually wear.
Memes, culture, and the people making things around us became fuel for designs with a little personality—and a lot to say.

Ideas don’t happen
in a vacuum.
Austin Kleon’s Steal Like an Artist was part of our starting point. It encouraged us to pay attention to our influences, connect ideas, and develop our own creative voice.
That curiosity still shapes what we make: finding something familiar, looking at it differently, and turning it into a shirt that gets a reaction.
